What do you do while watching sports on TV?
Do you like to watch sports on TV? If so, I am sure you have watched one (or more) of those matches that were, well, a tad boring. Dragged for a while. That didn’t hold you interest because honestly, both teams were equally unappealing. On the other hand, I am sure you have also watched matches that got you so worked up that you were ready to throw the TV magazine at the screen, that you needed something, now, to distract you. In either of these cases, what do you do?
Okay, if a match really, really doesn’t interest me and I only watch it because I want to spend the evening with my husband, I read. Most romances are just fine to enjoy with some sports commentary in the background. And when there’s a goal, you can put the book aside for five minutes and watch it.
With matches so exciting that I need something to distract myself, household chores are just perfect. During the recent match Germany vs. Portugal in the Euro 2012 soccer tournament, I cleaned some strawberries to be made into jam later. I also iron a lot. And there’s a heap of mending that I’ve saved for Euro 2012.
Do you do something else while watching sports? Or do you wonder how anyone can possibly do so?

Oh, yes, if I’m only mildly interested, I’ll read while the game’s on in the background. If I’m a teeny bit more interested than that, I’ll do things like do my nails, work on a jigsaw, or like you, mending… things where I can pay attention to the commentary, but not keep my eyes on the screen 100% of the time.
I do wish I had a treadmill or elliptical in the house, I’ve watched a couple of football games in the gym and that’s worked out wonderfully (although the last one I watched was Man City’s last Premier League game this season, and I almost fell on my face during the very dramatic last couple of minutes!)
When I’m working out (treadmill or elliptical) if there’s an American football or baseball or college basketball game on, I’ll watch. And yep, sometimes I do get involved and yell at the tv, even if I’m not a huge fan of one team or the other. :)
