RWA Coverage: What’s Your Pleasure?

In a little over a week, Blythe, Lynn, and I will be at RWA in New York.

The three of us certainly plan to blog that week and provide coverage day by day.  We also plan to live tweet the Ritas.  But at this point we don’t plan detailed session coverage as AAR provided in the past – usually days after the event.

So, here are my questions:

Does this sound like the level of detail you’d like?

Any authors you’d like to hear from?  Any gossip you’d like us to track down?

Lisa Kleypas is indeed coming to RWA, so I can check out what’s up with her on Friday morning. And thanks again for the suggestions.

I’m also interested bigtime in agency model pricing and when we can breathe a sigh of relief as it goes goes away. In the meantime, any info on which authors are moving to a mode that allows them to decide the pricing on their e-books (like Courtney Milan) would be welcome.

Thx much and have lots of fun!

I’m interested in reports on romance publishing trends, e.g., has paranormal romance crested? will steampunk gather, umhumph, steam? do publishers anticipate a surge in medivals? rumors of publishing house mergers, new romance lines, all that stuff. Thanks!

I would be interested in information from Suzanne Enoch about her contemporary series with Sam and Rick. I read on a blog that she may be considering doing a digital sequel to the series. I think that would be great._

I’d like to hear from Elizabeth Hoyt, Kris Kennedy, Julia Quinn, Meredith Duran, Elizabeth Essex and Bonnie Dee. That all depends on if any of them are in attendance. Also gossip wise I’d like to know what’s going in the world of romance novel cover models, male and female. Thank you!

Thanks, everyone, for the suggestions. It would be hard to find about Judith Duncan and Kathleen Seidel — I wouldn’t even be sure who to ask — but if I hear anything, I will report. I will, however, be talking with Sherry Thomas and will bring back any updates I can. I can try to find out about Lisa Valdez as well. Lisa Kleypas is not coming, I believe, so there won’t be anything new to report there. I’m not sure about RWA’s take on digital publishing and will be sure to report.

I’m curious to know when Lisa Valdez’s next book will be published. I would also love to hear any news from Lisa Kleypas.

Please, please ask about Judith Duncan. I miss her writing and would love to know if there’s any chance of a new book. Any news would be welcome. Thank you!

I’d love to hear anything about Kathleen Gilles Seidel, especially if there is a new book in the works.

I would REALLY like to hear from Sherry Thomas. I just saw online today that she has submitted books 1 and 2 of a trilogy! In an interview that you did with her last year she indicated that she didn’t feel she had enough ideas to start a series. I wonder if it was your question to her that sparked her thinking of a series or what other factors changed her mind. Is her new trilogy historical romance? (I certainly hope so – she does it SOOO well!)
Sandy, thank you for asking.

If editors from Random House are there, can you find out if Judith McNaught is still under contract? She’s had some personal issues to deal with so the publication date for her next book keeps being pushed back.

Susan I am interested in that too! I want to know if any other authors are thinking of going rogue. Any plans for more authors to put their backlist on e-books?

Are the publishers still holding to agency pricing? Or have they finally seen the light.

I’d love to hear RWA’s opinions on digital publishing. There’s been a bit of a dust-up over at the MWA on digital and self-publishing, and I wonder what RWA’s stance on it is/will be.

In general, I see the Romance publishers as more forward thinking in the ebook market than many others.
