Opinion Poll: Facebook for Pets
My friend’s cat just friended me on Facebook. I have mixed feelings about this. He isn’t the first animal that has done this; I’m also facebook friends with assorted other cats and dogs. This can be cute; the most recent cat is in a “domestic partnership” with my friend, speaks Meow, and has Fetch listed as his sport. It can also be obnoxious, like when the animal comments on things or has obnoxious status updates (“I just peed all over mommy’s shoes, and she’s SOOO mad at me!!!!”).
So, what do you think? Pets on facebook, or not?

An fascinating discussion might be priced at comment. There’s no doubt that you ought to write more about this subject, it will not undoubtedly be a taboo subject but typically men and women are not enough to communicate in on such topics. To yet another location. Cheers
I went more than this internet site and I conceive you’ve got plenty of great info, saved to fav (:.
Sounds like we’re pretty much all on the same page… it does make sense if you game on facebook (which I don’t).
Although, Leigh, I actually have seen parents make facebook accounts for their infants– who comment on pictures, occasionally.
There’s also the inanimate objects… this is far rarer, but a friend of mine made an account for her guitar, so she could be “in a relationship with” it.
Uh, yeah, I created a FB account for my cat but it was for gaming and after the first day I completely forgot how to log in. The only reason I did this was my niece who has 8 pets had them all on FB and I knew it was for gaming and felt I couldn’t say no. And then I thought, hey, what a good idea.
What I didn’t know is that my cat’s account shows up on my friends boards saying ‘you might want to friend _____ since she knows Cindy’ – I didn’t realize this until one of my friends wrote and asked if ‘Pixie’ was my cat. Ooops.
That said, I’m not about to post status updates for the cat.

I have a dog and two cats, and I adore all of them. But this goes a little too far for me. What I find cute and charming I’m sure is not what my friends and family would find cute and charming. Then again, I think dressing tiny dogs in clothes and putting them in purses is ridiculous, so I guess I’m not the right person to ask.
NO. Since I don’t do Facebook ,do babies have Facebook pages? Do parents set up separate one for their kids?. I think one per family until they can actually type and put up their own thoughts is enough. When and if dogs or cat can do this, then they can have their own page.
P.S. I do share my house, food, car, with four cocker spaniels.
Well, it can be cute and fun, or it can be weird and obnoxious — just the same as with humans! LOL! ;-)
I think some folks have accounts for their pets to help with game playing — gives them another entity.
And then there are those who, I suppose, feel their pets have things to say that aren’t getting expressed. My 3 critters don’t care too terribly much to converse with those outside the immediate household — but when they do, they just dictate an e-mail, card, or letter to me on their behalf ;-)
I’m friends with a cat on FB and she doesn’t post a lot so she hasn’t annoyed me up to this point.
To be truthful, I don’t know anyone who has done that with their pets. But if they did, and the “pet” asked to be friends with me, I would just ignore the request, unless it was a pet I absolutely loved. Then I would do it just for the fun of it. But everyone on Facebook has the option of hiding any of their friends’ posts. I’ve done that with people who asked to be friends and I know them, but barely, but didn’t want to say no, because they’re friends of friends. I couldn’t care less about their daily activities and thoughts, so hiding them works for me.
Let’s be honest. Facebook is composed of all kinds of people and characters. Some of them are your family, too. LOL. So, if you choose to participate on that type of forum, you get caught up in it, no matter your intention.
