Mac or PC?

macbook-pro11I’m starting the long process for shopping for a laptop, and man is it fun.  They’re all so shiny and new, and I get giddy just thinking about it.  (Yeah, I’m a geek.)

Anyway, the big debate is, of course, Mac or PC.  I’ve used a PC  for a long time simply because my family’s always done so.  But I do know how to use a Mac, and they’re just so pretty.  I mean, look at it.  And everything’s so compatible now that Macs aren’t as restrictive as they used to be.

The only reason I can think of, so far, to stick with PC is Blu-Ray.  But to be honest, that’s not a deal-breaker for me.

What do you think?

Most definitely a Mac!!!
I was a long-time PC user and always had trouble with freezes, crashes, constant patches, etc., etc., etc. I’ve had a Mac Book Pro for over three years and not once has it frozen on me or given me any of the headaches my old PC did. I’m most definitely a Mac fan and will never go back!!

I started on a PC at work, then had to switch to a Mac because of all the graphics used in our publications. Then, when the PCs became more like Macs, the organization wanted us all to be on the same machine for compatability. I almost cried (not really, but I wanted to). I loved the Mac. I did get used to the PC and have them now at home. But there was always something missing when using them. Just once, I’d like to go back to a Mac just to see if they’re the same as they once were. So user-friendly and everything else good. From everyone else’s comments here, they still rock! :D

I’ve steered my elderly mother-in-law, her boyfriend, and my elderly aunt to Macs because I knew I’d have to be their support team. I’m grateful to Apple that I only have to answer simple questions that are due to user inability to remember anything, not more complicated issues related to viruses or incompatible hardware.

We bought both Macs and PCs where I used to work, and the Macs always lasted longer and had fewer problems. We also rarely bought extended warranties for the Macs, but always bought them for the PCs.

I’ve used both, and while I think PCs are just fine, I will always opt for Mac if I have a choice.

You know, I resisted Mac for a long time. I think it’s because Mac users tend to be really…hmm, what’s the word? Let’s go with “enthusiastic.” *g* It just made me dig my heels in for PC, because I KNEW PC, understood it, could dig into the OS and handle even major problems. I didn’t understand Mac, it’s more expensive, and, gasp, it wouldn’t run my Windows-based games.

So. I mentioned I could handle PC’s “major problems.” And that’s the key. I always had major problems. Viruses, adware, software conflicts. I use my computers heavily, and was needing to buy a new one every two years, so when my last laptop died, I decided to try a Macbook Pro.

That was 3 years ago, and I will NEVER go back to PC. I freaking LOVE my Mac and it’s super-fast bootup. Since we still have two PC’s in the house, I don’t need to use the program that would allow me to play my games on the Mac…so it’s Mac only. The only problems I’ve ever had with it have been when I run a Microsoft program (Office for Mac,) but even those have been rare.

So anyway, I’ve turned into one of those “enthusiastic” Mac people. :) I get it now! LOL Yep, my laptop was much more expensive than a Windows-based laptop, but it’s also lasted longer. If I get six more months out of it, it will have paid for itself. Love it!

Most definitely a mac! My mac is about 4 years old and it was refurbished when I bought it and I have never had any problems or viruses with it. Macs are actually pretty easy to use once you get the hang of it. When I go on a pc now I end up banging my head in frustration. Good luck making your decision!
