Listening to musicals

Chicago is probably the CD I’ve listened to most recently, closely followed by Evita. I listen while I work at the PC, so I need to close the door to my study so that no-one is bothered by my singing along!
What is your favorite musical? Do you buy the CD when you like a musical? And do you sing the songs, too?

Definitely believe that which you said. Your favorite justification seemed to be on the net the simplest thing to be aware of. I say to you, I definitely get annoyed while people consider worries that they plainly don’t know about. You managed to hit the nail upon the top and defined out the whole thing without having side-effects , people could take a signal. Will probably be back to get more. Thanks
Oh, I forgot to mention Les Miserables above! I saw it in London (twice), and really enjoyed it.
When I was a child, my parents permitted us to use the record player by ourselves years before my kindergarden mates’ parents did, but aside from classical music, we had very few LPs. I must have listened to My Fair Lady and Anatevka about a million time. These were the dubbed soundtracks, but as they employed excellent German singers for that, this wasn’t a problem.
What I love about musicals is the way that you can sing most of the songs. The melodies are catchy, and you mostly don’t need an opera-trained voice. Perfect comfort music!
Phantom of the Opera, hands down. My roommate turned me onto it a year ago, and I’m obsessed. I think I have 5 different cast recordings on my iTunes, and I probably know every word. I also really enjoy Wicked, The Sound of Music, Love Never Dies, and Avenue Q. (Oh, and the soundtracks to all the Disney musicals! I think I listen to musicals way more than a college student should!)
I love the cynicism of CHICAGO, the staging, the tragedy and hope of LES MIZ, the black humor and horror of SWEENEY TODD, and about a million other musicals. If you are of a certain age (middle aged or older), then MAMA MIA is nothing but fun. When PHANTOM OF THE OPERA came out, I was totally addicted and listened to it at least once a day for about four months. I saw it with the original cast on Broadway, months later, and by that time, I couldn’t stand it. It was like eating too many chocolate chip cookies. I love the music of the old musicals–OKLAHOMA, SOUTH PACIFIC, etc., but their stories are so dated and soooo long, that I never go to them any more. I wish someone would make a new “book” of these old musicals and keep the music.
My favorite of favorites is My Fair Lady. My best friend and I used to give each other LPs of our favorite musicals for birthday presents [Our birthdays fall on 6 & 18 Sept.]. She gave me the original cast recording. I would play it when reading or studying. I’m pretty sure that I learned all of the songs by heart–accent included!

My husband, daughter and I are obsessed with Les Mis. We own the original Broadway CD, and the 10th and 25th anniversary DVD recordings, DH and I have seen it live 3 or 4 times, and my daughter has seen it live once. I love the songs but am absolutely hopeless at memorizing them. Daughter can sing every note from beginning to end. I feel a Les Mis fix coming on. Thanks. :)
I haven’t listened to it in awhile but definitely love The Sound of Music.
I listen to the soundtrack from Hairspray on a fairly regular basis. Love “Welcome to the Sixties” and “You Can’t Stop the Beat”. Really I love just about every song but those two are faves.
