Kathleen Givens has Died
We received news today that author Kathleen Givens died unexpectedly this weekend. Ms. Givens was the author of several Scottish historicals, including The Destiny, for which she won a 2004 RITA award and Rivals for the Crown, which was her most recent novel. Her novels were vivid and rich in historical detail, and I as well as several of my colleagues here at AAR enjoyed them.
In addition to having her own website, Kathleen Givens also blogged as part of The Whine Sisters. Her friends on the blog have written a wonderful tribute to her which can be found here, and others have added some wonderful memories of her in the comments there. Our thoughts and condolences are with Ms. Givens’ family and friends.

I have observed that in the world nowadays, video games would be the latest trend with children of all ages. Occasionally it may be not possible to drag your children away from the games. If you want the best of both worlds, there are lots of education…
Maybe the whole country and its people will collapse down into a pit.
Hi there! I could have sworn I’ve been to this site before but after checking through some of the post I realized it’s new to me. Anyhow, I’m definitely happy I found it and I’ll be bookmarking and checking back frequently!
Hey there! I know this is kinda off topic nevertheless I’d figured I’d ask. Would you be interested in exchanging links or maybe guest authoring a blog article or vice-versa? My blog addresses a lot of the same subjects as yours and I believe we could greatly benefit from each other. If you are interested feel free to shoot me an e-mail. I look forward to hearing from you! Superb blog by the way!
I know this if off topic but I’m looking into starting my own weblog and was curious what all is required to get setup? I’m assuming having a blog like yours would cost a pretty penny? I’m not very internet savvy so I’m not 100% positive. Any suggestions or advice would be greatly appreciated. Appreciate it
Hi there! I’m at work surfing around your blog from my new iphone 3gs! Just wanted to say I love reading through your blog and look forward to all your posts! Carry on the superb work!
My goodness. How sad to hear about this . I just started reading her book On a Highland Shore. Bless her heart. We should always appreciate people while we have them. She will be missed.
I just saw this, and I am in shock! I met her at the Scottish Faire in Orange County a few years ago, and when I saw her again this last May 2009, she remembered me. What a sweetheart. She said then that she was going to work on a new novel…..how sad that we will never get to see it.
Her books, all of which I have, have always held a special place on my book shelf, along with a little bookmark with her name on it, that she autographed to me.
She will be missed, and although this is a bit late, my heart goes out to her family and friends.
I’m really sorry for her family and friends. That’s so sad and it’s so sudden. I’ve seen her pictures and she was pretty young.
How sad. She was a wonderful writer and I enjoyed several of her books very much.
When I read that on Twitter I had to read it twice because I couldn’t believe it. She is one of my favortie authors, an author I look forward to reading and run out an buy her book. What a loss to this genre. My condolences to her family and friends.
