"Hey Ya" Cover
I’m getting sick of the songs at work, which rotate amongst a selection of company-approved schlock. But there’s one song that I haven’t tired of yet, and it’s Matt Weddle’s cover of “Hey Ya”, by OutKast. Now don’t get me wrong, I love the original. But somehow, the dynamism of MW’s cover, the way he brings down the chorus in volume, in contrast to 99.9% of pop songs, and the sheer electricity of his version – I have to say, I almost like it better than OutKast’s.
Any songs whose covers you prefer to the originals?

Awesome list, Dabney. Thanks!
Dabney – That is an awesome list to get me started. Thanks heaps.
JulieR – I didn’t even know Landslide was a cover. Ha.
Forgot to mention Ryan Adams’ cover of “Wonderwall”. Fantastic.
I always loved Fleetwood Mac’s version of Landslide, until I heard the Dixie Chicks version. After that, I actually saw Fleetwood Mac in concert and their version (the original!) just didn’t sound right! I’m not a huge country music fan, so I’m guessing it’s the additional harmony in the Dixie Chicks version that appeals so much.
