Favorite Books by Favorite Authors for April

Continuing the process of re-polling for your favorite books by favorite authors, our three pollsters – LinnieGayl, Cindy, and Lee – polled again in April for:

Of these, only one – Roxanne St. Claire – had never been polled for before. Here is some pollster behind-the-scenes input on the results:

Victoria Alexander’s continues to please her fans with her latest books.  New to the list are A Little Bit Wicked, What A Lady Wants, and The Secrets of a Proper Lady which have all been published since the last poll and managed to land almost smack dab in the middle of the favorites list in spots, 5, 6 and 7.

Christine Feehan‘s older titles did some jockeying in this year’s list with Dark Desire moving up from the #4 favorite last time to #1. New titles to the list are Conspiracy Game, Safe Harbor, and Turbulent Sea, the last of which received a DIK review.

Gaelen Foley‘s list grew to twelve strong this go around as Ms. Foley only had nine books published during the last poll in 2006. The new additions are His Wicked Kiss, Her Only Desire and Her Secret Fantasy.  With that said, the first six titles remained the same and held their own against the newer titles.

Jillian Hunter‘s Bocastle series is proving quite popular with her fans as six titles made the list, including new titles: The Wicked Games of a Gentleman, The Sinful Nights of a Nobleman, The Devilish Pleasures of a Duke, and Wicked as Sin.

Beverly Jenkins‘s list of favorites stayed firmly set while three new titles – Bring on the Blessings, Jewel and Deadly Sexy – found spots on the list.  All have been published since the last poll with Bring on the Blessings, Ms. Jenkins’ most recent release from this past January, landing in sixth place.

Brenda Joyce‘s list changed dramatically.  Six titles remained while six were swapped out.  The Francesca Cahill/Deadly series took a firmer hold on the list with 5 titles ranking with the latest additions being Deadly Kisses, Deadly Caress, and Deadly Love.  Two books published since the last poll also made the list with The Perfect Bride grabbing first place and Dark Embrace landing in 9th.

Julia Quinn‘s top three titles exchanged places from our last poll. Two of her newest titles, The Secret Diaries of Miss Miranda Cheever and The Lost Duke of Wyndham (a DIK reviewed book), made the list.

Karen Ranney‘s top three titles remain the same from since we last polled. The Scottish Companion (a DIK reviewed book), The Devil Wears Tartan, and Autumn in Scotland all appear on the list for the first time.

J.D. Robb wrote a keeper when it came to Naked in Death, the first book of the Eve/Roarke series and it claims the number one spot.  There are three new additions to the list: Conspiracy in Death, Ceremony in Death, and Born in Death.  The first two books were published before the last poll, while Born in Death was published in 2007.

Nora Roberts‘s Sea Swept was far and away the winner with a third more votes than the next title on the list.  What was interesting was watching Jewels of the Sun, the first book in a trilogy, land in 4th place and its companion, Tears of the Sun, take 8th place replacing two single title books, Hidden Riches and BirthrightCarolina Moon is also new to the list and placed 10th.

Roxanne St. Claire‘s books in her latest trilogy all take the top three spots. Hit Reply, a chick lit book written under the name Rocki St. Claire, also made the list.

That’s it for April’s Favorite Books by Favorite Authors poll. Stay tuned for May’s turn, coming in a few weeks. We love to get your input on what is the crème de la crème of these authors’ backlists.

Claire, that’s really great to know that the Faves pages are helping you. I’ve done exactly the same thing with new-to-me authors.

I recently started using the ‘favorite books…’ pages to help select what I read and it’s been pretty darn reliable for helping me choose books I end up enjoying. I carry a printout of all the pages in my purse for trips to the bookstore, library and ubs and refer to it. If the title isn’t listed, I don’t buy it. Thank you ladies for doing the updates. I’m looking forward to seeing next months results.

Great job ladies! I can’t believe Killer Curves came in so far down on the Roxanne St. Claire list.
