Fancy Fingernails

fancy nails

t’s easy to express yourself these days. We do it through the music we listen to, the clothes we wear, the tattoos we choose, our blogs and tweets and Facebook posts. And some ladies have added their nails as a fun way to advertise their feelings on a variety of subjects.

Here is a celebration of Spring in 2-D:

For myself, I have short nails. I type a lot and have active kids, which means being active myself. Super fancy nails aren’t practical for me. But for Christmas I plan to do alternating red and green finger and toe nails. I already bought the polish. How about you? Do you like your nails fancy or practical? Do you go for something in between?

I recently had my first professional pedicure and am hooked. But as for my fingernails, they’re short and tend to be pretty ugly. Once in awhile I’ll put polish on them, but doing anything fancy is beyond my abilities. But I’m completely fascinated by the things other people have on their nails.

I tend more toward pedicures than manicures – mostly because my day job is pretty hard on finger nails. In the summer I can easily justify a pedicure a month, but even though manicures are cheaper I only get one as a treat. I do paint my nails myself fairly often, but music notes or anything else fancy would be completely beyond my talents.

I’m not a nail polish kind of person but it is fun to see what people put on their nails.

Working in a hospital, I am prohibited from artifical nails- an increase risk of bacteria. So I have super short nails. Which is no hardship since my nails break easily any way. I have never understood why my mother, and grandmother had super strong nails that never broke, and I got stuck with the weak brittle ones.

I like polish, but it doesn’t stay on – and my stand on getting manicure and pedicure varies depending on the lastest unsafe or infection related article I have read (grin). I do have all the stuff here at home to DIY – but honestly I tend to get involved in reading and forget about it.

Plus when I do take the time to do it, usually late at night I always get sheet marks.
