Fall TV

So, the fall TV season has begun.  Most shows have premiered, and people are beginning to set their TiVos accordingly.  Now, I don’t have much time to find new TV by trial-and-error. I’ve read some reviews and seen some very contradictory “What to Watch” articles, and in all honesty it hasn’t helped that much.  So I’m looking for suggestions from you all.

What have you been watching that’s good so far?  Any new shows you were pleased with?  Any you’re not?

HAWAII FIVE-O ROCKS! Of course I’m rooting for it so filming can continue and our economy will turn around … but it is alos a great spotlight on Hawaii and even the military! The budding bromance between Steve and Danno is entertaining while Chin and Kono teach us about Ohana.

I agree with Lynn M about the contemporary version of “Hawaii-Five-O.” I have seen both episodes and enjoyed them. The scenery is gorgeous, as are the actors. The scripts are excellent. Last night, my husband turned to Turner Classic Movies at eleven pm; they were showing El Dorado, with a young James Caan in a supporting role. After just having watched 5-0, I was doubly struck by Scott Caan’s resemblance to his father.

We watched ABC’s “The Whole Truth;” it may be consolation for the loss of Law and Order, but it is too early to tell. We do want to see this Wed.’s “Law and Order: Los Angeles”. We’ll have to record one because they are on at the same time.

Otherwise, I am happy with the “old” shows: NCIS, NCIS: Los Angeles, The Mentalist, Bones, Castle, Masterpiece Mystery, CSI, etc. I just realized that there are not any sit-coms in my list. I wonder if that means something?

The only new show I’ve watched was last Sunday–and, actually, it’s not new, just the most recent series of it. It’s Dexter and it’s one of my favorites on TV. Sorry I can’t help you out with others.

Nikita is pretty good; not ‘must see’ but not bad, with some potential lingering.

I’ve given the updated “Hawaii Five-O” a try and I really like it. I’m not much on procedural cop shows but this is much more action oriented. I love Alex O’Loughlin and Scott Caan is equally fabulous. I am hoping they delve a little bit deeper into the characters’ personal lives because after two episodes, so far it’s remained more of a “workplace” show and I like when they delve outside the office.
