Eagerly Awaited in May
We’ve been looking over the May 2011 releases and deciding what books we’re all longing to try. In going over this month’s rather lengthy list of anticipated reads from everyone here at AAR, I saw two books mentioned again and again – one contemporary and one historical. Eight of us can’t wait to get our eager paws on Rachel Gibson’s latest, Any Man of Mine, and Dangerous in Diamonds by Madeline Hunter is not far behind with seven votes from reviewers who want Castleford’s story. So, what are you eagerly awaiting this May?

Looking forward to Pamela Clare’s latest Breaking Point. Loved her historicals as well as contemporaries.
I’m also looking forward to Julia Quinn’s book “”Just Like Heaven (The Smythe-Smiths)”” coming out May 31!
To Jane: The price on ebooks has gone up dramatically in the past year. When I bought my nook, new hardbacks were $10. Then they jumped to $12.99. Some are even more. And the ebook version of paperbacks is sometimes more than the paperback. If the increased price means a better deal for the authors, I’m okay with it – but if it’s for the publishers, they are already saving money since they don’t have to print and store books.
(I like ebooks but actually prefer a “”real”” book, especially for books I reread – much easier to find a scene or a place in the story where you want to start. But storing all the books I read would be impossible!)
To Victoria: You’re right about the expectations. But this series has been fabulous so I think she’ll deliver! Too late for her to worry about that now anyway :).
Looking forward to many of these! Especially the Madeline Hunter, Rachel Gibson and MJP.
On another note, why is the Roberta Gellis $9.99? I’m guessing it is a trade paperback, but this annoys me because that means any ebook will be that price, also. Way too high for me. Grrr.
Also have pre-ordered “”Dangerous in Diamonds””. I’m starting to feel kind of apprehensive for Ms. Hunter. Many of us are eagerly awaiting Castleford’s story, and we all know just how we want it to go.
I was a little disappointed in “”A Secret Affair”” which was Con’s story. After all that time, and all he had been through, I don’t feel the story did him justice. I wanted it to be more about reconciliation with his family, and everyone (read Lyngate and Vanessa) having to eat massive amounts of crow over the way they treated Con. Stephen and Con were truly my favorite characters.
See, Ms. Hunter, selfish expectations, not great ones. None the less, I am really looking forward to “”Dangerous In Diamonds””,and like Carol, hoping it comes on the release day :-)
I have already preordered Madeline Hunter’s book, and Amazon says it will be there on the day it’s released! If not, I may have to download the ebook version in addition to the hard copy. That’s how eager I am!
Looking forward to warcry, magic slays, dead reckoning… May will be my fantasy/paranormal book reading month :)
I can’t wait for DID by Madeline Hunter
