I’ve read Marie Brennan’s NATURAL HISTORY OF DRAGONS and loved, loved, loved it. It’s really more of an alternate history/world book rather then a paranormal. The dragons aren’t magical, they’re just another animal in this world. The heroine is a young woman who longs to be a naturalist and study dragons but society considers that to be completely unsuitable for a “”victorian”” miss. Isabella is determined however and manages to get her wish. In a lot of ways Isabella reminded me of Amelia Peabody, though there isn’t as much caper stuff going on here. This is the first in a trilogy (? maybe more) so things may change for her romantically. Highly recommended.

I also enjoyed CRYSTAL COVE by Kleypas. This is the first of her new paranormal books where I thought the magical elements worked and were necessary to the plot.

Sarah MacLean has a book called One Good Earl Deserves A Lover that has been given great reviews by another romance website. I say this in case someone wants to check it out.
