Devil in disguise is certainly the book I’m most looking forward. Kleypas is auto-buy for me.
The rest of the books –I’ll wait for the reviews.
I just went to take a look at Body at Buccaneer’s Bay by Josh Lanyon, and Amazon has the release date for August 20, 2021.
Gah! I put this together on Sunday, and it was still July at that point!
I figured it got pushed out. No worries! I still need to read the previous one.:-)
Yeah, pretty much every book of hers due out over the last 18 months has ended up getting pushed back.
I didn’t read many new releases in june. July list is exciting.
Not in the list, i’m excited for Helena Hunting’s Love Next Door which will be released on July 27th.
Other than that
Sarina Bowen, Penny Reid, Lisa Kleypas, Lyssa Kay Adams, Kristen Callihan & Roni Loren is on my tbr.
I am so looking forward to Exposed by Kristen Callihan. I have loved the VIP series, especially Managed. Brenna and Rye’s story has been teased throughout the first 3 books and I hope we get some backstory of how the band came to be.
Am very interested in Pause by Kylie Scott. She is an author whose books I generally enjoy and sometimes really love. I loved her previous novel Repeat. Pause is not being billed as part of a series as far as I can tell but the hero seems to be the brother of the hero of Repeat.
Also very excited about Waylaid by Sarina Bowen. I just finished reading the True North series earlier this year and want to know that last Shipley sibling’s story. We got a glimpse of the hero Rickie in Dylan’s book Heartland and I was intrigued.
Will definitely pick up Devil in Disguise. Lisa Kleypas is another author whose books at baseline are all good but sometimes one hits that is so excellent. I know it wasn’t everyone’s cup of tea but I did love her last book Chasing Cassandra.
Will also get Totally Folked. Penny Reid is an auto-buy author for me and I am interested to see how she redeems Jackson (as the Winston Brothers’ opinion of him was so poor throughout that previous series).
I’m also looking forward to:
The Dating Experiment by Briar Prescott. She is a relatively new M/M author and this is only her 5th book but I really loved her first two books (Project Hero and Rare). The new book is a boss-assistant story, which is a trope I enjoy.
Rules of Play by Lane Hayes. Another M/M author. This is 2nd in a series and I didn’t like the first one that much but I have loved her Out in College series and hope this one is better. It has nerd-jock and brother’s friend tropes.
And I might check out Charles: Learning to Love by Con Riley. I haven’t read any books by Con Riley but I’ve read some good reviews on AAR. It looks like this is the first in a new series set at a boarding school in Cornwall (which gives me good vibes because of Lily Morton) so it might be a good place to start!
I’ve just got a review copy of the Con Riley, so watch this space! Charles was a secondary character is her last book (His Haven) and he was a lot of fun so I’m looking forward to reading about him. Briar Prescott is on my radar – I have Rare on audio – I’ll have to check out her new one.
The Dating Experiment is 2nd in a series so I wouldn’t start there. The Happy List is the first. I liked The Happy List but not as much as Project Hero (her very first book) or Rare. Project Hero is lighthearted but Rare is emotional/angsty. I think Rare would be a good place to start with this author and hope you like it!
The audio has two excellent narrators, too, which is always a plus.
Let’s see, I’ve pre-ordered the Shitt’s Creek-inspired Tessa Bailey book and Kate Pembrooke’s debut, Not the Kind of Earl You Marry. I’ll also definitely make time for the latest Ruby Dixon — I love it when she introduces new characters or expands the existing world building in some way, which is what it seems will be happening in Steph’s Outcast.
From the list above, my curiosity is peeked by the The Housekeeper of Thornhallow Hall. A historical romance debut AND Jane Eyre vibes? Sign me up!
Ruby Dixon’s newest Icehome book “Steph’s Outcast” will be published in July and I absolutely cannot wait for it!
Its amazing her first Ice Planet Barbarians book recently topped the Amazon charts years after it was released just because the series has become a major hit and topic of discussion on Tik Tok. It’s crazy how influential social media is. Good for her!
I’m really looking forward to Devil in Disguise by Lisa Kleypas. I tend to take her for granted sometimes but when I reflect on my most re-read books, particularly comfort reads she’s at the top of my lists.
This is part of the Ravenel series but as I really don’t know (or remember?) anything about the main couple it will be a complete surprise to me.
Merritt is Lilian and Westcliff’s daughter, I think, from the Wallflowers.
Wow I didn’t even make a connection with the name! I always think of Merritt as the little girl whose doll wanted more than two lumps of sugar in her tea!
Now I am really excited for this book! Thank you!
The hero is
Well it could be cute. I’ll have to wait and see how it all plays out. I didn’t expect that.
I don’t think I fancy that – and if he wears a kilt and is all ‘bonnie lassie’ it’s a double nope!
There is a sneak peak on Lisa Kleypas’ website and although no kilt is mentioned, the hero uses words like “wee” and “dinna”. But I still have faith in Lisa!
Well it’s hard to avoid “wee” for sure as that is the word Scots use it’s just that there are so many bad Scottish accent books out there.
I have faith in Lisa too!
I’m not sure I understand why this book would be part of the Ravenels series (which I thought was finished!). If the hero and heroine have links to the Wallflowers and Hathaway series, is the link just the same generation?
As for the spoiler issue, I’m surprised too but it is possible that it could be presented in a way that I could accept…
After reading massive amounts of new books in May and June, right now I only have three books on my July tbr—that’s likely to change, but as of now I’m looking forward to:
Jackie Ashenden’s latest HP, THE INNOCENT CARRYING HIS LEGACY (July 1). If I’m reading the blurb correctly, the heroine offered to carry her best friend’s baby, but then her friend died and the heroine, mid-pregnancy, seeks out the baby’s father—only to discover he’s a Sheikh (because of course he is—this is, after all, the Harlequin Presents universe).
Kylie Scott’s PAUSE arrives on July 13. The heroine has been in a coma since a car crash. When she awakens, she discovers her husband has moved on with another woman (Jeez, how long was she in that coma?). Then the heroine meets the man who saved her life after the crash. Based on the blurb, this one almost has an Aly Martinez feel to it.
Sarina Bowen’s latest True North book, WAYLAID, arrives July 20. This is Daphne Shipley’s story—she’s the youngest Shipley sibling, so this is definitely going to be an N/A-college romance. I can’t figure out if the storyline involves amnesia—the blurb says the hero “doesn’t remember the hours he spent” with Daphne. Bowen is hit or miss for me, but I did like her previous book, ROOMMATE, so I’m hoping WAYLAID will be as good.
I didn’t notice the Andie J. Christopher book, but HOT UNDER HIS COLLAR features one of my favorite transgressive catnips: a priest driven by passion to betray his vow of celibacy. However, that illustrated cover does nothing for me (I mean, I only had to look at the cover of Sierra Simone’s PRIEST and I was like, “Come to Mama”); somehow, I feel the story of a priest torn between love for a person and love for the Church should have a cover befitting the seriousness of that theme. Also, it is currently priced at $9.99 for the ebook—and that’s too rich for my blood!
Yep. Another cartoon cover that doesn’t reflect the book content.
Pam Godwin’s upcoming LESSONS IN SIN (it was scheduled to drop this week but has been postponed until June 30) also features the priest trope, but one look at that book’s cover and you know it’s going to be good…and hot!
There’s A LOT about that particular cover that rubs me the wrong way! Why is the perspective kind of, uh, looking up her skirt? I get that the reference is that she’s an angel or a demon on his shoulder, but her dress & headband look a little juvenile AND she’s (childishly?) tiny in comparison to him…? It seems to unconsciously reference the Catholic Church’s history of pedophilia, and it just gives me the creeps.
Ugh, that cover is truly awful. Neither hero or heroine look attractive!
i’ve been waiting for the new lisa kleypas-Chasing Cassandra wasn’t as good as i expected so i’m hoping this one brings the magic
