Coming Soon – The Romances We’re Most Looking Forward to Reading in January 2022
Welcome to 2022! Here’s wishing all of you a happy, healthy and successful year and hoping we can at last start to put the last couple of tough years well-and-truly behind us – and also that you’ll find some great books to help you along the way. To that end, we’ll be continuing our monthly look at the new and upcoming releases we think are most likely to provide excellent reading and entertainment – so here, without further ado is our first Coming Soon post of 2022. As usual, it’s not a comprehensive list, but a selection made by the team, and we look forward to hearing from YOU about the books you’re most looking forward to reading over the coming weeks.
The only book I had on my calendar for January is one I forgot to submit for the list! It’s Playing Dirty in Alaska by Samanthe Beck. I read her previous one, Faking It in Alaska and liked it so I picked up the second one at NetGalley.
I’m most looking forward to the Heart to Heart anthology as it has several authors I really like. I am also excited about The Siren of Sussex, The Best Men and Weather Girl.
Of note, The Best Men has a prequel called Super Hot Wingman that is currently free on Amazon.
I’ve read four of these for the site, and my big preview is – “Siren of Sussex” is a strong front-runner for best historical of the year for me (yes, already).
Good! Something to look forward to :-)
After looking at the info so far available on Amazon on any possibles, I’m with Lieselotte. I will await reviews as nothing jumps out shouting “read me, read me” except the Mimi Matthews but at £7.99 in the UK for the Kindle version is trying it on and I can’t justify that price.
Looking forward to many of the same books listed!
FYI…I think for the week of Jan 18, the link you meant to add was for Lauren Layne’s new book, MADE IN MANHATTAN, which I am really looking forward to!! Passion on Park Avenue is a great LL book that was released in 2019 :)
Fixed it! Thanks!
Apologies – I did think the title sounded familiar, but didn’t realise it was that old! Thanks for pointing it out.
Take a Chance on Me by Emma Lord (Tweet Cute) comes out Jan 4th. It has a Mama Mia theme where Millie is looking for her mom while making decisions about her senior year with help from her family and friends. Fresh and fun YA. I got an ARC and gave it 5 stars.
I’m also looking forward to Getting Real by Emma Chase that comes out January 24th.
The Hall looks appealing. And I never did get around to reading the first in Cat Sebastian’s Page & Sommers cozy mystery series, so maybe I need to start this year.
I really liked Hither Page – I’ve got the new book for review and will be reading it very soon.
JAK was an Auto buy, at least for the reliable „light entertainment“, once the price went down a bit.
Her first two books in Fogg Lake did not deliver even that, they felt disjointed to me, as if she tried to make thing snappy or edgy and made the text much too abrupt for me. So, I will wait for a review on this concluding book.
Otherwise, looking forward to reviews and recs – no yearned for books in January.
Two Harlequin Presents start January: Jackie Ashenden’s PREGNANT BY THE WRONG PRINCE and Clare Connelly’s VOWS ON THE VIRGIN’S TERMS. The titles (and the fact that these are HPs) tell you everything you need to know.
DESIRE AFTER DARK, an anthology, will be released on January 11. I’m not familiar with many of the writers represented, but for 99-cents, it’s worth a look.
Also dropping on January 11, K. Webster’s dark romance, TRIPLE THREAT. Unfortunately, it’s a book with one of those tells-you-very-little-emo-blurbs, so I don’t know much about it beyond there’s an element of “sheltered heroine sacrifices herself to enigmatic villain/hero to save her family from ruin.”
Giana Darling’s BEAUTIFUL NIGHTMARE, the second book of her Dark Dream duet, arrives January 13. This is a guardian-ward romance and part of the multi-author Midnight Dynasty universe.
Amelia Wilde’s SWEET MERCY, the second book in her dark romance series about an artist and an art collector, arrives January 18. This is also part of Midnight Dynasty.
Ana Huang’s TWISTED HATE, the next in her Twisted series, arrives January 27. I liked the first two books in the series—TWISTED GAMES and TWISTED LOVE—and am looking forward to the third.
I seem to have had Alexis Hall’s Something Fabulous preordered for ages, so I’m pleased that it will be here this month! A few weeks ago, I was very excited to learn that Cat Sebastian’s The Missing Page was coming in January, as I’d really enjoyed the first book featuring the MCs and hadn’t realised that she’d written a sequel.
Those are my only preorders for this month but I downloaded a bunch of free m/m books yesterday from Prolific Works’ Your Book Boyfriend’s Boyfriend. There is a terrific short by Lily Morton called The Player, which I read straight away, and others by authors such as Garrett Leigh. It doesn’t seem to have got much publicity yet – neither of those authors have linked to it through their Twitters yet – I only found it through a Goodreads review of The Player by Em – thanks, Em!
I’ve seen the Book Boyfriend promo at various authors’ FBs ,- that said, more by luck than anything else as I’m not on it all that often. I picked up the Morton, too, and quite a few others. Now to find time to actually read them!!
Do either of you have recommendations from the YBBB page? I’ve grabbed the Garrett Leigh and the Lily Morton, and one from Keira Andrews. Any others?
Hi Carrie, I think we were posting at the same time! I listed some of the authors in the other post that I thought were most recognizable (most of them mentioned or reviewed on this site) but some other authors in the YBBB giveaway that I downloaded were: Crystal Lacy, DJ Jamison, KM Neuhold, Mia Monroe, Nora Phoenix, Spencer Spears, Tara Lain. I am also trying out some authors that I have heard of but never read their books or just read a short story in the past. What a fantastic free giveaway!
Thank you! It’s fun to have short works to try out and to fill some time when I don’t know what to pick next.
I’ve grabbed stuff by a mixture of familiar and unfamiliar authors. In addition to the ones Manjari has mentioned, I’ve downloaded novellas by Jenn Burke – hers is one of the only standalones in the lot; I believe many of the others are connected to ongoing or new series – Rhys Everly, Eli Easton, Morgan Bryce, Charlie Cochet, Nicky James, Hailey Turner (a prequel to her forthcoming epic fantasy series!) Riley Hart, H.L Day, Sam Burns, Jaclyn Quinn, Meghan Maslow (I just reviewed one of her books for AG and really liked it), E.M, Lindsey, Jordan Castillo Price, Merry Farmer, Jackie North and Rachel Ember (someone I definitely want to read more from). They’re either authors I already know I like, or whose names I’ve seen around and thought I’d like to try. I think I picked up one or two by authors I haven’t heard of, just to give them a try.
Thanks! I did get the Jordan Castillo Price because I’ve read your reviews of one of her series. and the Hailey Turner. I’ve tried 2 Rhys Everly books and they were both DNF, so I figure that author’snot for me, but I’ll definitely look at some of the others. Thank you!
I think Rhys Everly is also not an author for me. I didn’t like his entry in the Vino & Veritas series as much as the others and I have also read a short story by him. I’m going to check out a few of Caz’s suggestions though!
Oooh, Nicholas Boulton’s narrating the audio of Something Fabulous!
I have been hearing about the promo via author newsletters for at least a month now. I just downloaded about 30 of the 100+ titles available. It looks like the books are a mix of standalone novellas and prequel novellas to series that will come out later this year. Besides Lily Morton there are a bunch of other great authors including:
Briar Prescott
Charlie Novak
Eli Easton
Garret Leigh
Keira Andrews
Lane Hayes
Lauren Blakely
Lucy Lennox
May Archer
Ana Ashley
Anyta Sunday
