Coming Soon… December 2017
Hard as it is to believe, we’re almost at the end of 2017… time to look at what lovely books are going to be around for us to devour over that well-deserved Christmas break.
Now That you Mention It by Kristan Higgins (26 Dec)
Higgins is one of my very favorite writers and I’ve loved her move into women’s fiction. Now That You Mention It is her take on what happens when you have to move back home to a place you neither loved nor felt loved you. – Dabney
A new book by one of my personal heroes? Yes, please. – Kristen
If it’s by Kristan Higgins, I’ll read it. Her books have gotten better each year. – Lee

Year One by Nora Roberts (5 Dec)
La Roberts sharpens her pen on a post-apocalyptic fantasy world where a plague has decimated humanity and only a young couple might have the key for saving humanity. – Lisa
It looks like Nora Roberts is trying her hand at dystopian romance, and I, for one, am super excited to get my hands on this. I’m not a fan of everything Ms. Roberts writes, but the things she does well are truly spectacular, and I have high hopes for this first book in her Chronicles of the One series. – Shannon

It Takes Two to Tumble by Cat Sebastian (12 Dec)
A country vicar is given charge of three unruly children – but his problems really begin when their “stern but gloriously handsome father arrives”… Cat Sebastian is firmly on my must read list and I can’t wait to get stuck into her latest offering. – Caz
OMG. From the book summary riff on “My Favorite Things,” to the description itself, Ms. Sebastian’s queer twist on the beloved Sound of Music is irresistible in every way. Cat Sebastian writing, a country vicar and a handsome captain…these are a few of MY favorite things. Aye, aye Captain indeed. – Em

What the Hail by Lani Lynn Vale
I don’t think I’ve ever seen a romance in which the hero falls for the heroine when he has to repossess her car. But what really attracted me to this one was the heroine, a survivor who is trying to recover after an abusive marriage. And a secret organization that helps abused women survive. But what will happen when her husband tracks her down?

If Ever I Should Love You by Cathy Maxwell
At first glance, this seems to be yet another romance about a newly titled hero who needs to marry a wealthy heiress. But there’s more. Years ago, he saved her from ruin. And there’s even more — flawed characters dealing with serious issues.

The Good Samaritan by John Marrs
Imagine a sociopathic woman working on a suicide prevention hotline — working to destroy lives rather than save them. This idea isn’t that far-fetched when you remember that Ted Bundy used to work on a suicide prevention hotline.

The Art of Running in Heels by Rachel Gibson
Gibson’s Chinooks series is a favorite of mine and I’m thrilled to see her return to these Seattle based hockey players.

How to Blow it With a Billionaire by Alexis Hall (12 Dec)
I’d like it based on the title alone, which if anyone cares, is hilarious and awesome. I thought the first novel in the series was terrific, and I have high hopes for How to Blow It With a Billionaire. Mr. Hall is my favorite contemporary author writing today; I can’t wait to see how the relationship between Arden and Caspian evolves.- Em

Roomies by Christina Lauren
First of all, I adore this writing duo, so I’m generally excited about anything they write. But this one has an Irish hero, and Irish lads are a weakness, plus a bit about professional theater, one of my other weaknesses. I’ve got a bunch of work travel coming up as we skid into Christmas, so I’m excited for this one to land on my Kindle.

The Ladies of Ivy Cottage by Julie Klassen (5 Dec)
Ms. Klassen writes lovely historical stories with inspirational insights. This particular book seems to revolve around three women, one of whom plans to open a subscription library in her village.

Cowboy Up by Harper Sloane (19 Dec)
The story of a scared, shy bookstore-owning heroine and a cowboy hero. It sounds lovely, and readers describe it as beautiful and tender.

Enchantress of Numbers by Jennifer Chiaverini (15 Dec)
The extremely interesting life of mathmetician Ada Lovelace-Babbage – sole legitimate daughter of Lord Byron – is worthy of several epic miniseries, and I’m anxious to see if Ms. Chiaverini does it justice!

So Over You by Kate Meader (4 Dec )
Ever since Kate Meader’s Hot in the Kitchen series I’ve kept an eye out for her books and the combination of hockey and sexy romance is a definite draw for me. I really enjoyed the first book in the Chicago Rebels series, with three sisters who have ownership of an NHL team. I am looking forward to So Over You which is a reunion romance with a Russian hockey player who did not impress in the bedroom on his first encounter with the heroine and gets a second chance.

Dance with Me by Alexis Daria (Dec 5)
Take the Lead by Alexis Daria was such a fun read for me (and a DIK) with its look at a couple competing in a reality show competition that I can’t help but be excited to read the next in the series! This one’s about one of the dancers and a judge on the show who become roommates but have to keep things professional and prevent a conflict of interest, a challenge when they find themselves attracted to each other.

The Pretender by HelenKay Dimon (Dec 26)
The third story in the Games People Play series is set in the murky underworld of art theft. The romantic suspense stories that I’ve read by Ms.Dimon have been among my favorites so I have high hopes that this one will be too.

Beautiful Lawman by Sophie Jordan (Dec 26)
The Devil’s Rock series continues with Beautiful Lawman, the fourth entry in a set of sexy romances that flirt with danger and the law. In the third story, Fury on Fire, ex-con North Callaghan fell for his neighbor Faith Walters. This story is about Faith’s brother Hale, the local sheriff in Sweet Hill and a man who keeps finding his troublemaking heroine stirring more than just his desire for justice.

Slammed by Victoria Denault (5 Dec)
I really enjoy Victoria Denault’s hockey romances. They are tender and steamy featuring plenty of hockey, memorable characters and interesting storylines. Slammed is also a workplace romance, which is a favorite trope of mine.

Can’t Get Enough by Gena Showalter (5 Dec).
I’ve followed this entire series; therefore, I am already familiar with and invested in the hero and heroine in Can’t Get Enough. (The books are stand-alones, so you do not have to read the previous five.) This is going to be an emotional story because both protagonists have suffered in the past and have deep emotional wounds. I am betting their happy-ever-after is going to be particularly moving.

Miss Mechanic by Emma Hart (12 Dec)
Emma Hart writes brilliant romantic comedies, and I am always excited when she releases a new one. Miss Mechanic is a rivals-to-lovers story in which two mechanics have a heated competition in the garage, and it is certain to be full of witty, laugh-out-loud banter, emotional moments and heated interludes.

Witches Wild by Yasmine Galenorn (5 Dec)
I adore everything Ms. Galenorn writes, and this fourth full-length novel in her Bewitching Bedlam series promises to be amazing. Someone from our heroine’s past is back in town, and life will never be the same for anyone. I can’t wait to reconnect with the characters that inhabit this world.

The Vanishing Season by Joanna Schaffhausen (12 Dec)
I’m always looking for twisty mysteries to lose myself in, and The Vanishing Season looks perfect for me. It promises to be dark and disturbing, just the kind of book I won’t want to put down.

So… those are the books we’re looking to reading over the next few weeks. What new releases are YOU eagerly awaiting?
I’m most excited for DANCE WITH ME, because the author’s debut romance (and first in the series), TAKE THE LEAD, is one of my absolute favorite romances this year. If her second book is as good, I think I have a new fav contemporary romance writer.
Thank you Anne for mentioning The Good Samaritan! Warped and twisted suspense tends to be my jam and whoa boy – this sounds like a doozey!
Also, I need that Cat Sebastian, like, yesterday.
It must be something else because there some angry reviews complaining about how horrid the characters are, and how sensationalist it is. :)
BTW if you have Amazon Prime, this is one of the Kindle First books for November — so you can get it before everyone else. :D
12/05 Elizabeth Hoyt, Once Upon a Christmas Eve
12/05 Kelly Bowen, Novella, The Lady in Red (A Season for Scandal)
12/07 Anna Bell, It Started with a Tweet (author of the funny Bucket List to mend a Broken Heart)
12/19 Kristen Ashley, The Hookup
I’ve read the Hoyt for the site and can confirm it’s terrific!
Can’t wait for tomorrow when Jackie Ashenden’s BIG BAD BILLIONAIRE will be available. It’s part of her Billionaire Fairy Tales series which also has some crossover with her Tate Brothers series (the last Tate Brothers book, UNDERCOVER BILLIONAIRE is scheduled for publication next March and apparently ties both series together).
I’m also looking forward to BEAUTIFUL LAWMAN. I’ve enjoyed all of Sophie Jordan’s previous Devil’s Rock books and this one looks good too (although this time, instead of being an ex-con, the hero is on the other side of the law).
I reviewed the Ashenden for us. I love her books so much. The review should be up soon!
The only new release for December that I have marked down is Courtney Milan’s _After the Wedding_, which is supposed to be released on Dec. 12th according to her website. It’s been delayed though more than once so I’m not entirely sure this date will hold up. It feels like a long time since she wrote the first book in her Worth Saga.
I thought about including it here, as I’m chomping at the bit for it, but as you say, it’s been delayed more than once, so I decided to leave it out. It IS a long time since the first book and novella came out – 18 months or so, I think.
From her posts about it on Twitter, I do have more confidence that this is a real release date. But I don’t even remember the first book. I haven’t been as impressed with the newer series.
Fingers crossed, then. But I have to agree with you on the series so far; I know we’re only one novel and one novella in, but they both fell in the B range for me whereas the Brothers Sinister books were all out-and-out As.
Unfortunately, it’s been delayed until Feb. 20th according to her website. Fingers crossed that date holds up. I am finding that the long delays between books is making it harder to stay interested in the series.
