Christmas leftovers
It is customary in Germany to leave the Christmas tree standing and everying decorated until Epiphany, which was yesterday. So this weekend is the time to put all the Christmas leftovers away.
I have already put the presents where they now belong, with the excection of three largish picture frames for photos of my nieces. I need to find some space on the wall for them.
The Christmas decorations, on the tree and otherwise, will be put into their boxes tomorrow. The tree itself will be collected by volunteers from the parish next Saturday.
There is one more thank-you note that I must write, but as this one needs to be a long letter, I have procrastinated so far.
What remains is the leftover Christmas baking. I love baking and do so right until Christmas, with the result that there is a lot left over now. The problem is, by early January I’m through with sweets (for a month or so). I offered the cookies left and right, but my friends have the same problem. So I am resolved to take a large tin to work. Everyone there complains about being overstuffed, too, but somehow those cookies still disappear …
What are your after-Christmas preparations?

When it arrives to home decorations, i’m a perfectionist. My spouse and I consistently want the best decoration for my place which complements my own character. I really prefer decorations that improves the particular look of my living space. I do not compromise for lower quality home decorations merely to save cash.
Together with everything that appears to be developing within this subject material, a significant percentage of points of view tend to be relatively stimulating. However, I am sorry, but I do not subscribe to your entire idea, all be it exciting none the less. It would seem to everyone that your comments are actually not entirely justified and in actuality you are yourself not completely confident of the argument. In any case I did appreciate reading through it.
After examine a couple of of the weblog posts on your website now, and I truly like your approach of blogging. I bookmarked it to my bookmark web site listing and will probably be checking back soon. Pls try my site as well and let me know what you think.
I take my Christmas stuff down on December 27th, but then again I usually have it all up by December 1st, so it’s not like I didn’t get a change to enjoy it lol. As for Christmas treats, they’re lucky if they make it to the big day ;p And we always make sure they’re gone by New Years when we start our need-to-get-healthy regime.
I took down the Christmas lights at work on December 27 and my home decorations on January 1.
Foodstuffs are still showing up at work though and disappearing quickly!
My tree is still up, but that’s because I was called away from home unexpectedly. In any event, I too wait for at least Jan 6, the Epiphany feast. It used to be quite important years ago in our culture. And, after all, it does complete the true 12 days of Christmas. I probably will take it down sometime next week when I return home, but I love the feel of the lights at night. Sometimes I think I need them more at this time than the hectic days prior to Christmas. It’s so dead-looking out this time of the year.
