Callaway Gardens
One of my favorite places to spend a day or even a few hours visiting is Callaway Gardens in Pine Mountain, Georgia. We’re lucky, because we only live a small driving distance away, which means we can go whenever we have the time and inclination. The season pass they offer also makes it even more convenient.
The big draw for us is Robin Lake Beach. We try to go at least once a week because the kids love it. They swim, play on the water slide or play on other inflatables in the water. When they get tired of all that, we play put-put golf, ride the train, or play on the paddle boats. It’s a great way to spend time when those summer days at home get a little too long. During the rest of the year, we enjoy the hiking trails and the butterfly house. During Labor Day weekend, Callaway Gardens has the Sky High Hot Air Balloon Festival. It’s a great time to have a picnic and just watch the balloons – the kids absolutely love it. At Christmas, they put on a fantastic Christmas lights display called Fantasy in Lights.
For us, it’s a great place to spend time relaxing and just enjoying nature at it’s best. Where do you go just to get away for a little while?
