Resort to Love

TEST

For better or worse, Sofia Vargas’ life is tied to the currently derelict Paradise Key resort in Florida. After growing up working there (and falling for the son of the owner), she’s built a very successful career for herself managing a B&B on Key West. When Paradise Key comes up for sale, she knows that she must buy it and rebuild it to its former glory. Only problem being, the son of that former owner is back on the scene. Nate is interested as well and not only in the hotel. Will the past be too big a obstacle to surmount? Or will our star-crossed lovers get their second chance?

The word I use the most often for Ms. Oliveras’ writing is warm. I feel comfortable in whatever world she’s created for me, and I usually love spending time with her people. You know those houses you walk into and there is something delicious smelling in the kitchen and you are welcomed with hugs and told to take your shoes off and within seconds you completely belong? That’s Ms. Oliveras’ writing. This book was no different. Not only did I love the time we spent with Sofia, but also with the aforementioned son, Nate, and with Sofia’s extended familia, who are all key to the story.

In their teenage years, Sofia and Nate were quite the item. Sofia broke it off while they were in college and Nate has never really understood why. They’ve been clandestinely hooking up over the years since, and Nate’s love for Sofia has never wavered. Sofia is the one who put them in the “no strings attached” zone and he was willing to go along with it. When this Paradise Key business throws them back into close proximity, he makes the call that he’s not letting her keep them casual without a really good explanation.

We readers know, however, that it was Nate’s father that really forced Sofia’s hand. The billionaire offered to pay for Sofia’s school if she would break up with Nate. Not wanting to give him the satisfaction, she tore up the check but still decided to put the brakes on her and Nate. She did not need that kind of drama! This casual hook up pattern they’ve been in suits her just fine, her POV assures us. But we know better, don’t we?

The progress both personally and professionally is well paced. If you’re a fan of second chances, I cannot recommend this enough. Warning though, the descriptions of the warm breezes of the Florida Keys may just have you booking a flight!

  1. excellent book: interesting, funny dialogs, deep understanding of each character, interesting secondary characters, and also sexy.

Voracious reader, with a preference for sassy romances and happily ever afters. In a relationship with coffee, seeing whiskey on the side.

I’m reading Ms. Oliveras’ next book for the site and I’m so excited to see how it is!
