TEST
Having finally discovered Sharon Sala, I picked this book up out of my library earlier this week, and thought I’d give it a try. Well, I didn’t put Jackson Rule down until I had finished it. It grabbed me, first paragraph, and I was off and running.
Jackson Rule has spent almost half of his life in prison for killing a man, his father. Now he’s trying to start a new life. Into this new life steps a preacher’s daughter, Rebecca Hill. She’s the one woman who believes in Jackson, and believes in the man he really is, rather than the man everybody else, including her father, thinks he is. Jackson’s a man who’s gone through hell, and survived. Prison wasn’t anything compared to the life he had before he killed his father.
This book was gut-wrenching, intense, and one of the greatest reads I’ve ever had. I could find nothing wrong with this story. I think my heart sat in my throat, pitched to my stomach and back again on such a regular basis, I wasn’t sure I was going to live through to the end without having a heart attack or something. I don’t think I have ever felt such empathy for a man in my life. There were times I cried just to deal with the intensity of this story.
Then, just as I was getting to the end, Sharon Sala sent such an unexpected curve into the story, I couldn’t believe it. If I was thinking about going to bed for the night then, there was no way I could do it. I had to finish this story.
Yes, this book is a definite keeper. Sala has written a well-rounded story of an intense man with a heart of gold. Unfortunately, only a select few people know the man deep inside. Most of them judge him from the outside and never give the inside a chance.
If you’re looking for a book that will keep you riveted, this is the one. This book has everything, mental anguish, abused children, a possible rape, a story to keep you on the edge. When this book was finished, I was almost relieved. I wasn’t certain I could live through another chapter of such intensity. This was a truly worthy read and I’m looking forward to more books by this wonderful author. This is only my second of her books – I must have been nuts to pass this author by for so long.

I don’t think anyone expects you to post UK prices – it’s just a shame that such a great sale…
I’m sorry about that. We don’t have any way to post British prices as an American based site.
I have several of her books on my TBR and after reading this am moving them up the pile.
