A non-rainbow wardrobe
I was looking through my wardrobe the other day, looking for Chapters clothing. Our tres cher bookstore ordains that employees only blue, black, or white tops, paired with navy, black, or khaki bottoms. (Although now that’s it’s December, we can wear red.)
Anyway, I couldn’t find what I wanted. So I decided to do what I’ve wanted to do for ages: I organized my wardrobe according to colour.
And I found that I have a disgusting – no, positively ridiculous amount of blue.
Blue dresses. Blue skirts. Blue turtlenecks, button-downs, T-shirts, tunics, shirt dresses – geez, my wardrobe is blue. I also have black, tan, beige/white, and a smattering of red. And, like, two articles that could count as green. Otherwise, I’m blue. And it’s not even, say, navy blue and royal blue and sky blue and periwinkle all mixed in together. It’s navy blue.
Which is fine, in its own way. I like blue, and all the other colours. And I definitely went through a phase when blue, black, white and beige was all I wanted. But holy cow, I’m ready for more colour.
So I’ve made a pact with myself: Whenever I go shopping now, if I have a choice of colour, blue will now to be at the bottom of the list.
Here’s a wee poll for you guys: What’s the predominant colour in your wardrobe? Do you have plans to branch out?

My wardrobe is cockeyed. Everything from the waist down is black, except for one or two pairs of leggings. The tops are a rainbow of patterns and colors. I guess to branch out I’d need to buy some patterned or colorful pants, leggings and skirts. Which I don’t see happening any time soon…
That’s funny because I do not own a single collared shirt.
Dabney, wearing the same type of thing is also a problem with me. Button downs. Nothing but button downs.
Several years ago, with the exception of summer dresses, I realized my entire wardrobe was black. I began to slowly add color: white. A year after that I added another color: grey. Then my daughter began a fashion opinionated teen and began pointing out how, more or less, I always wore the same thing. Since then, I have been moving to color. I now have colored jeans, tops, skirts and jackets. They all, however, are pattern free. That’s a choice I’m just not daring enough to make!
