Miles Palmer knows he’s at the end of his downhill slalom career. This is his last Snow and Ice Games (fictional Olympics) and he plans on finishing exactly how he’s always competed – dominantly and with a podium finish. The possible wrench in the plan is his teammate and rabble-rouser Crash Delaney. Crash has the talent, for sure, but his behavior leaves a lot to be desired. For the good of the image of the team, Miles agrees to corral Crash. And corralling becomes a euphemism very quickly.
Seduction on the Slopes is a fast read – not only because it’s a novella, but because Ms. Parker has a skill for setting the scene swiftly and then getting everything moving. Miles is a black man, known in the sport for being disciplined, fastidious, and perfect. He comes from a supportive and loving family, and was provided pathways to achieve his dreams from a young age. Crash is none of those things – apart from the fact he’s also a dude. Crash grew up in the worst circumstances, and wanted to ski so badly that he literally stole equipment so as to be able to compete. The public persona of each is quickly stripped away for the readers as the two men get to know each other.
Crash also used to have Miles’ poster on his wall and Miles was his first same-sex crush, so there are some serious hero worship dynamics here that are fun to watch play out.
The plot is simple; Miles has to make sure that Crash attends and behaves himself at all the team’s media appearances for the duration of the competition. Crash wants to, but he has this phobia that gives him full on panic attacks at the idea of being in front of the press. The ploy for surviving is to calm him down, which can only be accomplished through Miles giving Crash a hand job.
Sure, whatever, let’s all just go with it.
There’s plot and depth and development here, don’t get me wrong, but this book is super sex-forward. I personally wouldn’t classify it as erotica, but I know a lot of other folks that would. It stays in the “warm” sexuality rating for me, but I’m sure there are others who would put this firmly in the “hot” camp. Thus, you have been warned.
I enjoyed this thing immensely. Miles and Crash are fun, the plot development is well done, I rooted for both of them individually and also for their mutual happy ever after. Looking for a non-hockey sports m/m? One click Seduction on the Slopes now.

Yup, a fun read – definitely a pleasant way to spend an evening. :) There were a couple of things I would have liked to see happen to amp up the complexity and intensity factors, but overall this was excellently done with believable characters and hot, believable sex.
I actually didn’t have such a hard time believing the hand-job-as-problem-fixer scenario. It was set up really well, and, well, it’s a whole different world at a competition.
I didn’t have a hard time believing it either Robin, but it also definitely felt like a “because reasons” kind of moment. I thought it was executed well, too, and just the whole damn book worked.
This sounds like perfect escapist reading – fun, sexy, not-too-serious, but well-written.
I just read my first Parker – a novella featured in the Exposed anthology and I liked it very much. Also an m/m story – but with a twist. I’m looking forward to reading more from this author. Soon.
