It’s incredibly ’80s in the almost negligent way it’s presented. I still haven’t figured out what it’s about. I don’t know any other songs by Tanita Tikaram.
But here it goes: When I’m feeling moody and rather stressed, this song often jumps into my head. It’s a kind of you-must-contain-yourself-now-so-that-you-can-get-over-the-next-few-hours/days music. So it’s immensely useful, even if I don’t understand it!
Is there a song that comes to you when you feel moody and stressed? Do you like Twist in my Sobriety?

Ooh, I love The One I Love, too! And thanks for the link, Lee!
I remember hearing this song – one of my cousins loved it, so this song and REM’s “The One I Love” were pretty much on a constant loop one fine summer when I was a kid and staying at my aunt’s farm. I have very happy memories attached to both of them as a result.
I like it okay, but I doubt that it would ever stick in my mind. I really like her alto voice.

over this.
