Today while surfing the ‘Net, somebody mentioned this book and how good it was and how funny it was and I thought to myself, “Gee, I picked that up the other night. Think I’ll go read it.” So, tonight I sat down, expecting to have a laugh or two because most books that people say have them “fall down laughing” give me the odd chuckle or two. Okay, I open the book and by page 12, I’ve already laughed at least three times. I’m taken by surprise. This book is hilarious! Not for a chapter or two but from page 1 to page last!
Alan Parish has been dumped at the alter by his bride-to-be, Jo Montgomery. He decides he’s never getting married after this one but he’s already paid for the honeymoon at a great little snazzy resort so he may as well go for it and enjoy himself.
Enter his ex-fiance’s best friend, Pamela Kaminski. Jo has sent Pam to console Alan. Pam is a walking disaster looking for a place to happen. She arrives at the church, one heel broken, drives up over the curb, grabs Alan, and takes him, kamakazi-style, to the airport. Alan, Mr. Technogeek, square, conservative, and definitely anal-retentive, asks her to go on his honeymoon trip with him. And Pam, drunk on Margaritas, takes him up on his offer. She upchucks during a goodly portion of the plane ride, and it goes downhill from there.
They’ve lost their luggage. They can’t get the right rental car. They have a flat tire. Pam flags down a trucker who just so happens to be running pigs to market. The trucker drops them off at The Pleasure Paradise, surely a misnomer for it is the worst dump Alan has ever seen. All this by page 35 and I am nearly hysterical with laughter.
They get into their room, notice the people across the courtyard from them are seniors, and seniors without clothes. That’s right – it’s a nudist colony and it’s not a pretty site.
I won’t divulge the rest of the story, but I flat out loved this book. Alan and Pam have a great rapport and Alan’s comments are priceless. It’s hard not to love him, even if he is a nerd. There are scenes in this book that will make you roar out loud with laughter. Take my advice – don’t decide to read this book in bed late at night when your significant other is trying to sleep unless you’re prepared to stuff a pillow down your throat.
If you are a little depressed and looking for something to cheer you up, grab this book as fast as you can. I don’t think I’ve ever read a funnier book.

excellent book: interesting, funny dialogs, deep understanding of each character, interesting secondary characters, and also sexy.
I don’t think anyone expects you to post UK prices – it’s just a shame that such a great sale…
I’m sorry about that. We don’t have any way to post British prices as an American based site.
I have several of her books on my TBR and after reading this am moving them up the pile.
