Someone to Love Me is a rewrite of Francis Ray’s first romance, 1992’s Fallen Angel. It is the story of Michelle Grant and Brad Jamison and in this new version their romance is more detailed and complete.
Michelle Grant is a successful commercial real estate agent. In spent the past nine years working her way to the top of her field through hard work and putting her personal life on hold. One of the tools she uses is her body. She dresses provocatively and uses her charm to help win clients, but then uses her skill as a real estate agent to keep them. This may seem unprofessional but Michelle is a product of the foster care system and life dealt her and her brother some hard lessons. She would stop at nothing to succeed in business to secure her and her older handicapped brother’s future.
Brad Jamison is a successful CEO of a computer company. Looking to relocate his business, he hires Michelle’s company. Having already heard about her reputation he decides to remain immune to her charms; he’ll treat her like any other women in his life. Having had a disastrous relationship with his mother, Brad does not trust women and keeps them all at a distance. His relationships are short lived and serve one purpose. He promises nothing in the way of love and expects none in return.
But Brad doesn’t remember – he and Michelle met nine years earlier and in fact, he was her knight in shining armor. He rescued her when her boyfriend betrayed her. Brad saved her that night and his help gave her hope and determination for the future. Michelle used that night to push herself and make something better of her life. When she first lays eyes on Brad she cannot believe it is BJ, the man who saved her so many years before. The happiness she feels at seeing him is short lived when Michelle realizes he is nothing but a cold-hearted businessman and nothing like her Prince Charming.
Brad meets Michelle and instantly believes all the rumors he has heard about her sleeping her way to the top. The dress she’s wearing on the night they meet says it all. He is initially rude to her, but quickly realizes his mistake and tries to make it up to her, but it’s too late. He spends the first half of the book trying to make it up to her. Once he realizes what kind of person she is, he knows that she is the woman he wants, but can he put aside his mistrust of women and can Michelle surrender her heart to a man who might not return her affection?
The book’s major conflict turned out to be a major problem for me; the Big Mis keeps them apart but if the two had talked to one another, everything might have been resolved far sooner. What’s worse, because of the Big Mis, Michelle behaves out of character; she gives up rather than fighting for something, someone, worthwhile. That said, however, it did make for a very dramatic reconciliation scene.
Those of you hesitant to read this rewrite – don’t let that stop you. I read both versions of this story and enjoyed each very much. The plot moved the book along quite quickly and the strong attraction between the main characters kept my attention throughout. Brad’s reasons for mistrusting women were clearly delineated. The characters give as good as they get and their romance is very believable. I strongly recommend Someone to Love Me to those looking for a contemporary romance without a suspense subplot.

I don’t think anyone expects you to post UK prices – it’s just a shame that such a great sale…
I’m sorry about that. We don’t have any way to post British prices as an American based site.
I have several of her books on my TBR and after reading this am moving them up the pile.
