Author Interviews: Who’d You Like to Hear From?
I’m busy planning ahead in this month of January. (Yes, actually planning. Not flying by the seat of my pants or anything.) I’d like to deliver some of the interviews you’re looking for this year.
In the past, we’ve focused on established authors and would like to stay primarily in that vein. Newbies or debut author interviews are extremely rare. I’ve been rebuffed only once in all the years I’ve been doing interviews for AAR – Kresley Cole had her assistant turn me down and I won’t ask again – so most everyone will respond favorably to an AAR interview request. The sky is (almost) the limit.
We’ve got an interview with Lisa Kleypas coming shortly, but that’s all I’ve got formally scheduled for the year. So, here’s my question: Who would you like to see interviewed at AAR?
– Sandy AAR
Very interesting points you have mentioned , thankyou for posting . “”Death is Nature’s expert advice to get plenty of Life.”” by Johann Wolfgang von Goethe.
Shana Abe!! Has she fallen off the face of the earth??? Does anyone know -anything- about a new book? It’s been over a year and a half!!
I second Castillo and Julia Spencer-Fleming, and Deanna Raybourn.

FYI, a lot of you are requesting authors who’ve already been interviewed at AAR. Some, I might ask again, but, for what it’s worth, you may want to read what they had to say in the past. The first list were interviewed at AAR proper and can be found there, the second list in the blog archives.
At AAR:
Judith McNaught
Kristan Higgins
Julie Garwood
Linda Howard
Rachel Gibson
Elizabeth Hoyt
Joanna Bourne
Tracy Grant
Mary Balogh
Julia Spencer-Flemming
Julia Quinn
Shana Abe (AAR podcast)
Blog:
SEP
Deanna Raybourn
Sherry Thomas (multiple times)
Laura Kinsale
Meredith Duran
Sandy AAR
Laura Kinsale
Jennifer Crusie
I cannot wait for the interview with Lisa Kleypas, so looking forward to her new book in Feb, but I would also love to see interviews with:
Linda Howard
Julie Garwood
SEP
Jennifer Crusie
Nalini Singh
Laura Griffin
Anne Stuart
Lisa Marie Rice
Karina Bliss
Newer author, Rose Lerner? I think her books was titled In for a Penny. It would be interesting to hear from someone recently published and not yet firmly established… Plus I enjoyed her book immensely!
I like the thought of a Lisa Kleypas interview, mainly because she’s focusing on contempories after so many years in historicals.
Other authors:
Richelle Mead great YA/adult romance
Rachel Gibson
Deirdre Martin new book coming out soon
Linnea Sinclair
Nalini Singh
Patricia Briggs
Karen Marie Moning
Thea Harrison
Janice Kay Johnson because she’s such a fixture with Harlequin and her books are always solidly written, with good plots.
SEPhillips (love her on FB)
Kristan Higgins
Linda Howard just re-read a bunch of her titles and she always has something fun to share
Julie James is a good up-and-coming author, newly established
I repeated some earlier suggestions in the hopes that it will up the possibility that you contact them. :)
I’d like to second (or third, or…):
Patricia Briggs
Ilona Andrews
Karen Marie Moning (Iced vs. Fever)
Elizabeth Hoyt
C.S. Harris
I like the Jim Butcher idea. I also would like Charlaine Harris (isn’t Deadlocked going to be the second to last Sookie? Could be wrong).
These are all established authors but I would love to read interviews with newer authors (I’m blanking at the moment!)
Sandy. Would it be very crass … to say myself? Yes, of course it would be. But I’m doing it anyway. My 2005 release Dedication (there’s a review here somewhere) is being reissued with more sex! A proper ending! The big booboo regarding the earl as magistrate corrected! April/May or thereabouts.
I with Vanessa, Judith McNaught for sure!!!
Also I am very curious about Carola Dunn.
Susan Elizabeth Phillips

So many authors already mentioned. I second Rachel Gibson, Tracy Grant, SEP, Marsha Canham (I would like to know more about the break she took in her writing), Linda Howard, Jennifer Ashley. I would like to add Mary Balogh and Penelope Williamson.

Jo Goodman
I realize many of these are repeats but:
Joanna Bourne
Deanna Raybourn
Susan Elizabeth Phillips
Julie James
Mary Jo Putney
Julia Spencer-Fleming
Linnea Sinclair
Tracy Grant
I second Bungluna’s list! To that I’d add a few more (established) authors with sci-fi romances:
Zoe Archer
Nico Rosso
Marcella Burnard
Anitra Lynn McLeod
I lean heavily towards sci-fi, so I’d like to see some of those authors interviewed. Here’s my wish list:
Louise McMaster Bujold
Robin D. Owens
Karina Bliss
Gini Koch
Jennifer Crusie
How about some cross-genre interviews? Jim Butcher sounds funny and it would be interesting to get his take on romance in his world.
I would like to see Judith McNaught interviewed. Look forward to any news/updates on her next book. Thanks!
It looks like a lot of us have some of the same names.
Sherry Thomas
Julie James
Susan Elizabeth Phillips

Julia Quinn
Deanna Raybourn
Emma Wildes
Beverley Kendall
Jo Goodman
Madeline Hunter
Elizabeth Hoyt
Christina Dodd
Kresley Cole
Liz Carlyle
Joanna Bourne
+1 Sherry Thomas
Courtney Milan, perhaps. For me, she just seemed to come out of the blue and suddenly she has a trilogy (the “”Un..s””) that is getting great reviews. I looked back and she was partnered in a Christmas anthology in 2009 with Mary Balogh (how did that happen – something must have got her there). Her debut novel was in 2010 and already she’s been a RITA finalist and an RT Reviewer’s Choice nominee for Best First Historical Romance. Wow, that must be rare. Also, I’m wondering (because of the reviews of her most recent novel) is she moving toward “”hotter”” writing and if so, why. I’m just so curious about her right now.
Thanks for asking. Sorry to be repetitive on some of the names, but there are reasons they keep coming up. Looking forward to the interview with Kleypas, the author of some of the most memorable and interesting men in romance literature:
Joanna Bourne
Judith James
Jodi Thomas
Jennifer Ashley
Mary Jo Putney
Marsha Canham
Susan Howatch
Jeannie Lin
Deanna Raybourne
Alexandra Raife
Julia Spencer-Fleming
Would liove to see any of these and very excited to hear that Lisa Kleypas will be giving an interview soon.

Kristan Higgins
Sherry Thomas
Julie James
Rachel Gibson
Julia Quinn

Shana Abe – when’s her next book? She can’t be done with the Drakon, can she?
I’m sure I’ll think of others throughout the day.
