Eagerly Awaited December 2011 Books
When I started compiling everyone’s choices of the December books that they eagerly anticipate trying, I couldn’t help but wonder if the holidays were making us all a little nostalgic. Though our picks for the month still cover a variety of subgenres, we’re definitely heavier than usual on historicals. And among historicals, Carla Kelly’s Coming Home for Christmas anthology grabbed lots of people’s attention, with 9 AAR staffers adding it to their lists. So, does the holiday season make you a little more nostalgic in your reading or do you reading tastes stay pretty much the same?

I cannot believe the new Julie Anne Long book coming out the end of Dec. is not on your list. I feel it should be number 1. In my opinion her book What A Duke Wants is the top book of the year so far.
I went looking for Thea Harrison’s True Colors this morning also. It’s an e-novella and I found it on the publisher Samhain’s website for $2.45. I couldn’t find any info on if it would be released through BN or Amazon.
Hi Delia and Barb!
Yes, it is available on the publishers website, but from what I have heard, it will also be available on Amazon and B&N. I had heard it would be available for pre-order by now, but I have no new information! Hope that helps!
Help! Would appreciate a little info on the Thea Harrison True Colors as I can’t find it on Amazon. Is it e-only from the author? What gives?
Thanks.
Not a one mentioned in the bunch above pulls me in at all. Oh, well—there’s always next month!
In answer to your question regarding the kinds of books I like to read during the Christmas season, it depends on what’s out there. Not all the Christmas stories are necessarily great, but I do enjoy those from the authors I like to read. It’s iffy from year to year. This year’s crop is not bountiful.
I will say that I thoroughly look forward, though, to watching many of the Christmas movies that Hallmark highlights right up to Christmas on TV. They began a couple of weeks ago; and although not all of them are fantastic (including the Santa Claus nonsense movies about his sons getting married, etc), many of them are quite good. They get me in the mood, for sure. Many are repeats and I will watch them again if they were worth it the first time. Again, it depends.
