24-Hour Songs
I don’t know about you, but occasionally a song will just hit me, and I’ll listen to it non-stop for hours – and I mean, HOURS – on end. I’ll only stop when I can feel myself get sick of it, but until then I inundate myself in the music.
My most recent one is “21 Guns” by Green Day, as sung by Green Day and the cast of the musical American Idiot. I would love to see this musical on Broadway, especially since it kills me that the theatre critics are raving about something music fans knew all along: Green Day rocks. Anyway, I think I like this version even more than the original (hangs head) – it’s positively electrifying, and I always break out into air drumming when I hear it.
What’s your song of the moment?

The new amazing automobile was referred to as Audi R8. It excites with really low center of gravity, aggressive-sporty vision and fantastic features. The alternatives that were obtainable to be added were also breath taking. 3 principal variations were in collection production by that time- Audi R8 GT, spyder and cabrio. The spyder a single was the severe with its breath taking prospects and performance.

I recognize the opinions on this website, it unquestionably gives you it that community sense!
The crux of your writing whilst sounding reasonable initially, did not work perfectly with me after some time. Somewhere throughout the paragraphs you were able to make me a believer but just for a very short while. I still have a problem with your jumps in logic and one might do nicely to help fill in all those gaps. If you can accomplish that, I would definitely end up being impressed.

I recently discovered Gillian Welch and have this song bookmarked on my laptop so I can replay over and over at work. It’s just so simple and haunting.

Love Green Day. In fact I used to listen to that entire CD so much, I knew allll of the words! I always thought it played more like a rock opera than just a CD. Actually, 21 Guns is not on that album, but it is a great song. I would dearly love to see that musical.
The songs I’m listening to really often are Viva La Vida by Cold Play (running on my treadmill with it almost every day). Also, Pearl Jam…Just Breathe and I love Just Say Yes by Snow Patrol.
Goosie – Glad you’re now a Garou-o-phile. I really recommend looking at the musical Notre-Dame de Paris, which doesn’t destroy Victor Hugo’s original. The only caveat is that while there is an English version, the lyrics are absolute crap. But since you don’t seem to mind listening to foreign languages, I’d say give it a go.
Re: Celine Dion – Canadians often have a love/hate relationship with her music. Mine is very defined: I love her in French, and I hate her in English.
Also: I agree that Celine Dion is better in French (even though I don’t speak a word of French). That being said, I’ll take her in any language she sings in.
Jean- So I took your advice and looked into Vole by Celine Dion (which I didn’t like as much as Sous Le Vent). BUT THEN, I looked into more Garou (who I’m half in love with – he’s super adorable and has a wonderful voice) and now I have a new 24 hour song: Je Suis Le Meme. It’s wonderful.
Also, another new 24 hour song that I recently discovered is Home from the Beauty and Beast musical. I discovered it really randomly on a CD with a bunch of Little Mermaid songs at the library. I was looking for a cd to listen to while studying and the only interesting I could find was Disney music. So yeah. 24 hour songs are awesome.
Goosie – I love, love, LOVE “Sous le vent”, and I could go on for hours about Garou, whose as much a Quebecois legend as Celine Dion (discovered singing in a tavern, tapped to play Quasimodo in the musical Notre Dame de Paris, massive star, etc etc). And just FYI, I think of “Sous le vent” as a friendship, about taking the moment and just letting it fly – the chorus is about taking a windsail and sailing with the wind (“sous le vent”). Have a listen to “Vole” by Celine Dion (God, she was so much better in French), which is a sad song about her niece dying and recently used by Joannie Rochette (2010 Olympic figure skating bronze), who skated to it in the exhibition in tribute to her late mother.
Sandy – Yup.
Love Green Day. Love.
I LOVE 24 hour songs! However, my roommate during my sophomore year of college would probably disagree. I had just discovered “Because of You” by Kelly Clarkson and was playing it continuosly. I for some reason was out of the room all day and accidentally left my computer and music on and “Because of You” was on repeat. I’m not really sure why she didn’t just turn my music off, but she didn’t and got stuck listening to “Because of You” on repeat for about 8 or so hours.
But my current song obsession is “Sous Le Vent” by Celine Dion and Garou. I don’t speak a word of French so I’m not particularly sure what the song is about but I love it nonetheless.
